استطاعت الرّواية الجزائرية - وهي الحديثة العهد بالنّشوء مقارنة بنظيرتها العربية - أن ترسي معالم وجودها، وتؤكد حضورها في السّاحة الأدبية، أين أقامت لنفسها كياناً وعالماً منفرداً بخصائصه الفنية والشّكلية المميزة، ومما لا شك فيه أن المتتبع للفن الرّوائي الجزائري سيجد أن هذا الأخير قد مر بعدة مراحل عبرت عن زمن وجودها وطرائق كتابتها؛ إذ لكل مرحلة تقاليدها المعروفة، وبين كل جيل وجيل روائي فوارق ومميزات فنية أرخت لتاريخ الرّواية الجزائرية، ويبدو أن وجود هذه الفوارق أن دل على شيء فهو يدل على تعدد الرّؤى وإختلاف التّوجهات الفنية التّي تشهدها تحولات الحدث الرّوائي.
هذا الحدث الذي حتم على الروائي أن يبقى حاضراً - دوماً - بقلمه وأفكاره ليساير تطورات الفن الرّوائي؛ إذ مع بروز مفهوم الرّواية الجديدة في النّقد الغربي بات لزاماً على الكاتب البحث عن إعادة بناء كيان نصه من جديد وبطرق تستوعب أسئلة الكتابة الجديدة هذه التّي أصبحت تؤمن أن النّص الرّوائي لم يعد يندرج ضمن تلك الكتابة التّي تستنسخ الواقع وتسرد مشاهده، وتحتفي به وبصوره الموغلة في منطق الأحداث وعقلانية التّركيب، بل باتت كتابة تتوق إلى معانقة الجديد، وتجريب كل ما يمكن أن يصف الخطاب الرّوائي بسمة تنافي القديم، وهي إذ ذاك ما فتئت تجرب الحداثي وتنزع إلى الخوض في مغامرة البحث عن الجديد والمختلف عن سابقه، جديد ينثر عن الفن الرّوائي غبار الإفراط في قول الواقع، ويعيد اللغة الرّوائية إحساسها بقيمتها وبوظيفتها داخل العمل الأدبي.
