يحاول هذا البحث تقديم صورة لمفهوم الإعلام الإسلامي في ضوء بلاغة الإمام علي كرم الله وجهه، تأسيساً على أن "الإعلام الإسلامي" ليس جديداً في موضوعه كما يتوهم الكثيرون، وإن كان باباً جديداً يطرقه الدارسون بحثاً عن الأصيل والمفيد الذي يثري الدراسات الإعلامية المعاصرة في الشرق والغرب على السواء، ويضع الحلول الشافية لكثير من مشكلات الإعلام المعاصر. وتأسيساً على هذا الفهم، تحاول هذه الطبعة من "نهج البلاغة" دراسة ماهية الإعلام الإسلامي في ضوء بلاغة الإمام علي كرم الله وجهه، في ضوء دراسات الاتصال الحديثة.
كما ويحاول هذا البحث دراسة التفسير الإعلامي للبلاغة عن الإمام علي، كما تحاول دراسة الاتصال الشخصي في الدعوة الإسلامية والاتصال الإعلامي بين دعم الاتجاهات وتغييرها، تأسيساً على أن المرحلة الإعلامية في عهد الإمام علي قد أكدت الخصائص الإعلامية في النظرية الإسلامية من نحو فريد، ولا سيما في مواجهة "الحرب النفسية" التي ارتبطت بشكل أساسي أراده معاوية للقضاء على نظام الخلافة الدينية. ويظهر البحث من خلال الدراسة الإعلامية لبلاغة الإمام علي عليه السلام، إن الإعلام الإسلامي في توجهه إلى الكائن البشري صالح لكل العصور، إذ يتسم بالشمول الذي يتناول الجزئيات جميعاً في وقت واحد كما يتسم بالدقة المعجزة التي تستمد من القرآن الكريم.
يقدم هذا الكتاب النص الكامل لكتاب "نهج البلاغة" في طبعته التي قدم لها الإمام محمد عبده، مع دراسة تتناول هذا الكتاب الرئيسي من مصادر الثقافة العربية والإسلامية، في ضوء التفسير الإعلامي، لبلاغة الإمام علي بن أبي طالب كرم الله وجهه ورضي عنه، وتطرح مجموعة من الافتراضات التي تفيد دارسي الإعلام، والبلاغة، والنقد، في جامعاتنا العربية والإسلامية، كما تطرح تصوراً لنظرية إعلامية مستقاة من المبادئ التي يتضمنها "نهج البلاغة" في الإعلام والاتصال بالجماهير.
