أحمد ربى الذى أتاح لى أن أكتب صفحة من أهم -ان لم تكن أهم- صفحات التاريخ الحديث لمصرنا الحبيبة.. وهى قصة نهاية عبد الحكيم عامر ومن معه، وقد أوشكت هذه القصة السياسية الانسانية أن تختفى من صفحات التاريخ وكأنها لم تحدث ولم يكن لها أسباب وضحايا ونتائج، ولو اختفت ولم تكتب الآن لكتبت للاجيال القادمة من خيال كل مؤلف وأصبحت اقل واقعية من القصص الفرعونية!!
وقد يكون من مميزات هذا الكتاب انفراده بازاحة الستار عن أسرار خطيرة أظهرت كثيرا من الحقائق التى كانت ستختفى وتضيع الى الابد. كذلك فهو ليس مذكرات ادعاء بطولات وانما اعترافات لا تنقصها الصراحة التى تصيب أول ما تصيب كاتبها!! وان كان للقصة طابع المذكرات فلانى أكتبها من واقع أيامى فيها وأحاول أن تكون بترتيب زمن أحداثها، فان أساءت الحقائق بعد هذا الى أحد أو أحسنت -فلا ذنب لى فى اساءة ولا فضل لى فى احسان- المهم هو الحقيقة لا من تصيبهم الحقيقة.
وقد رأيت ألا تبقى القصة سجينة أيام أحداثها لان وقائعها مرتبطة بأحداث أخرى سابقة ولاحقة توضحها ولان الايام السابقة عليها والتى كانت بعدها ولبضع سنوات كانت تعيش فى صمت رهيب وظلام موحش كئيب فكان يجب وأنا أفتح فمى بحرية كاملة لأول مرة أن أتكلم بالقدر الذى يسمح به حجم الكتاب.. وأتيح للقارئ والتاريخ بعض الرؤية فى ذلك الظلام المخيف.
