مع مرور عشر سنوات على افتتاح المركز الثقافي القومي، وعودة دار أوبرا القاهرة شامخة إلى الحياة الفكرية والفنية بعد طول غياب، كانت لمؤلف الكتاب وقفة طويلة وذكريات بعيدة، مع البدايات الكبرى لظهور الموسيقى العالمية على أرض مصر. وجاء ذلك ضمن أبواب الكتاب الثلاثة دار الباب الأول حول أولى الذكريات: النشأة ومؤشرات التكوين، والعلامات والإيحاءات. الباب الثاني تناول الإنجازات في التخطيط والتنفيذ في المرحلة الجديدة وخصص فصلاً لعزف متعدد الأشكال والموضوعات للحياة الموسيقية في كثير من العواصم الحضارية، عبر المشاهدة والمعايشة لها. وفي الباب الرابع دار الحديث حول أوبرا القاهرة في مائة عام صنفها ضمن مراحل عشرة.
يتناول الكتاب المتابعة لتطور الاهتمام بالموسيقى والأوبرا مع تطور المجتمع نفسه، خلال القرن العشرين، مع التسجيل لأول مرة لمواسم دار الأويرا طوال القرن من الزمان، وثمار ذلك بالنسبة لثقافة المتلقى لعروضها والفنان المبدع من وحى مشاهداته فيها، وحتى قمة الاهتمام العام المتمثلة فى إستحداث دار جديدة، شارك المؤلف فى وضع تصميمها، تحت شعار "المركز الثقافى القومى" الذى يحتفل الآن بعيده العاشر.
