يضم الكتاب مجموعة من المحاضرات أعدها الدكتور صبحي محمصاني أصلاً لطلاب السنتين الثالثة والرابعة من معهد الحقوق الفرنسي في بيروت، وازاء ما يجده الباحث في هذه المادة من صعوبات من خلال بحثه في كتب الفقه المطولات، ولا سيما في الفقه الحنفي، ارتأى الدكتور المحمصاني طبع هذه المحاضرات وذلك لتسهيل البحث عند الطلاب ولزيادة الفائدة عند رجال القانون.
ويتناول هذا الموجز مدخلاً في الفقه الإسلامي وتطوره ومصادره ثم يبحث في بعض أحكام الأحوال الشخصية، وهي أحكام الحجر وفاقدي الأهلية والوصية والنفقات والمواريث، وذلك وفاقاً للمذهب الحنفي، مع أهم التعديلات التي طرأت على هذه الأحكام في لبنان.
وقد أخرجت هذه الطبعة منقحة مزيدة. في الأمور الآتية. أولا: توضيح بعض المسائل التي أظهر الاختبار حاجتها للتفسير والشرح. ثانياً: التنويه بأهم وجوه الخلاف بين المذهب الحنفي وما جاء في غيره من المذاهب، لا سيما المذهبين الجعفري والدرزي. ثالثاً: زيادة بعض المقارنات المستمدة من القوانين العربية الجديدة. رابعاً: زيادة بعض الاجتهادات القضائية اللبنانية الجديدة لتسهيل فهم المبادئ النظرية على ضوء القضايا العملية.
