تعتبر قصّة (لوط) أكثر القصص إثارة وغرابة في العهد القديم ("التناخ"، من الآن فصاعداً). فـ(لوط)، الذي هو ابن أخ (ءبرم/ ءبرهم) في مواضع معينة، وأخيه في مواضع أخرى، يرافقه في هجرته من (ءور كسديم) إلى (مِصريم).. وبعدها إلى الـ(نِجِب).. وهناك يختلفان على مراعٍ.. ثم يقرر هجرته إلى ميدان (اليردن) والاستقرار في مدينة (سدوم)، التي أهلها "أشرار خاطئون إلى يهوه".. ثم يقرر (يهوه) تدمير (سدوم) وشقيقتها في الشرّ والخطيئة، (عموره).. ويطلب من (لوط) الهرب من المدينة، واصطحاب المؤمنين معه، فترافقه زوجته وبناته، وأثناء هربهم إلى ملجأ آمن، تلتفت زوجته إلى الوراء، فيحولها (يهوه) إلى نصْب ملح…
