في دراسته هذه، يهدف الباحث خليل إبراهيم محمد إلى بيان أسس ومكونات ومنظورات شخصية المسلم في التعامل مع ميراث الأمة الثقافي والحضاري، ومع وافد المدنيّة المعاصرة وتحدياتها المختلفة، والغاية النهائية إيجار شخصية مسلم تتوافق وقيم الحضارة الإسلامية.
تتألف الدراسة من مقدمة وأربعة فصول، وخاتمة، تناولت فيما تناولته مفهوم التراث وأهميته والموقف منه، والفكر وطريقة التعامل معه، وتحديات العولمة ومخاطرها في مختلف المجالات، واختلاف الاتجاهات في التعامل معها، أيضاً تناولت الدراسة مفهوم الديمقراطية على الصعيدين الفكري والسياسي من قبل القوى السياسية ومراكز البحوث والدراسات، ودور مراكز القوى، والنفوذ السياسي، في تصميمها وتوجيهها والتحكم في مصارها، وأبرز مواقف القوى الإسلامية في الديمقراطية.
وتعرض الدراسة قراءة في مقولة (فوكوياما) نهاية التاريخ السياسية والإيديولوجية كما تعرض الدراسة قراءة في مقولة (هنتجتون) في صراع الحضارات والخلفية الإيديولوجية للترويج وراء تلك المقولتان، وتاريخ العلاقة بين الشرق والغرب ومنعطفاتها التاريخية، والمقولتان برأي الباحث ما هي إلا "مشروع وخطة عمل لتطبيق استراتيجية الولايات المتحدة التي ترمي إلى الهيمنة على العالم".
وتختتم الدراسة بكيفية العمل على بناء وصياغة شخصية المسلم المطلوبة من خلال التركيز على المكون العقدي (البعد الإيماني)، المكون العقلي (البعد الفكري)، النزعة الاجتماعية (البعد الاجتماعي)، والتذوق الجمالي (الحس الجمالي)، فضلاً عن الحديث عن أهمية التربية ووسائلها وأبعادها في الإسلام... وموضوعات أخرى ذات صلة.
