إذا تركنا الطابع الغنائي في شعر مجدي نجيب، وهو أحد شطري نضوجه الفني في هذا الديوان، وانتقلنا إلى الشطر الثاني لوجدناه في الطابع التشكيلي أو الصورة التشكيلية، فبمقدار ما هو صانع أنغام نجده أيضاً وربما أكثر راسم صور، فالصورة هي أول ما يقع عليه بصر الشاعر، ثم يترجمها بعد ذلك إلى ألفاظ وكلمات، صحيح أن الألفاظ أو الكلمات تجئ بعد ذلك مموسقة أو مغناة، البصر، أكثر منها صورة سمعية فنقطة البدء عنده وهو يهم بنظم القصيدة من شعره، أن ترتسم في عينيه صورة، يستمد عناصرها مما يراه، ثم يعبر عنها بعد ذلك بالكلمات التي يصوغها بما يتسق وموسيقى السمع أو رنين اللفظ، فهو يفكر بالصورة، وإن عبر بعد ذلك بالموسيقى.
