ازدادت أهمية البحث في حقوق الإنسان في المرحلة الراهنة تلك الحقوق التي شاع استعمالها في العصر الحديث والراهن، إذ باتت اليوم تكتسب أهمية بالغة لا سيما في ظل تطور قيم ومبادىء الديمقراطية والعدالة والتسامح وانتشارها، وما نتج عنها من ثورات شعبية، وتقدم الفكر السياسي والاجتماعي، وتطور البحوث والدراسات الفقهية والدستورية والسياسية عند مختلف الأمم.
ومن كون قضية حقوق الإنسان، تواكب كل عصر أوانه، لأن الإنسان أسمى مخلوقات الله إذ جعل له حقوقاً أقرتها الأديان السماوية والقوانين الوضعية تكريماً له.
كان هذا الكتاب لتوضيح تلك الحقوق ومعرفة الإنسان لها من خلال الفكر الانساني والفلسفي ومنه الفلسفة الحديثة التي كانت عنوان هذه الدراسة، ولقد كان اختيار الفلاسفة (هوبز، ولوك، ومونتسكيو، وروسو)، الذي وجدت فيهم الكاتبة أنهم الممهدين لوضع اللبنة الأولى لفكرة حقوق الإنسان وأوصلوها إلى مفهومها الحديث مما أدى إلى تمكين المجتمع الدولي بتشكيل أفضل المواثيق الدولية ابتداءً بالإعلان الفرنسي لحقوق الانسان الموطن عام 1780م وصولاً إلى الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان عام 1948، وتعد الفكرة البارزة في هذه الدراسة استخلاص الافكار الداعية الى حقوق الإنسان لدى أولئك الفلاسفة.
