يعد هذا الكتاب المرجع الاول في اللغة العربية الذي يؤرخ لنشأة وتطور الصحافة النسائية في الوطن العربي، منذ ان أصدرت "هند نوفل" أول مجلة نسائية عربية ، وهى مجلة "الفتاة بالاسكندرية في 20 نوفمبر 1892م وحتى نهاية عام 1994م. وقد احصى المؤلف - خلال هذا الكتاب - ما يزيد على 180 مجلة امرأة وأسرة عربية لا يزال يصدر منها اكثر من 40 مجلة. بينما لم يحص "دليل الدوريات والصحف الجارية في الوطن العربي" الذي اصدرته المنظمة العربية للتربية الثقافة والعلوم- بكل ما توافر لها من امكانيات - غير 20 مجلة امراة عربية وفي جمل قليلة. ويحسب للمؤلف هذا الجهد الكبير فلأول مرة تخرج دراسة علمية تؤرخ لصحافة المرأة في كافة الدول العربية فقد استعرض المؤلف تاريخ الصحافة النسائية في كل من : مصر والسودان ولبنان وسوريا والعراق والاردن وفلسطين وتونس وليبيا والجزائر والمغرب وموريتانيا والسعودية والكويت ودولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وقطر وسلطة عمان واليمن. والكتاب لا يتناول فقط الناحية التاريخية وانما يتحدث فيه المؤلف عن الفنون التحريرية من خبر وحديث وتحقيق وتقير ومقال صحفي من خلال دراسة مضمون كل مجلة على حدة في سياق مضامين مجلات كل بلد عربي ، وخاصة المجلات منتظمة الصدور. والكتاب بحق يمثل إضافة هامة وفريدة إلى المكتبة العربية في حثل الصحافة المتخصصة.
