ينقسم كل فصل من فصول الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أجزاء: يتناول الجزء الأول عامة الطرق، باستثناء الفصل الأول الذي يهتم بالاقتصار على مفاهيم البرمجة الرياضية، ويحوى الجزء الثاني من كل فصل مسائل كاملة محلولة، بالإضافة إلى توضيح الأساليب المقدمة في الجزء الأول، وقد تزيد هذه المسائل على هذه الأساليب المقدمة كما قد تقدم نماذج لحالات عملية لفهم طرق النموذجية. أما الجزء الثالث والأخير من كل فصل فيحتوي على مسائل وحلولها النهائية، حيث يمكن للقارئ من خلالها الحكم على مدى تمكنه من المادة العلمية المقدمة.
