قصة مدينة وامرأة أدمنتا الاستهلاك. مدينة الخبر قابلتها شركة نفط كبرى. تكونت بقوة دفع النفط الهائلة. فغدت أجمل المدن النفطية البطرة. وشريفة ولدت وترعرعت في كنف أسواقها. دفعت للسوق دفعا لشراء جهاز عرسها. أغوتها كائنات السوق، فأدمنت الاستهلاك بإفراط. أهملت شئون أسرتها، أوشكت أن تخسر حب رجل منحها قلبه واهتمامه. شكت أمرها لابنة خالتها حصة، فالتفت إليها، وكأنها تحذر مراهقة: يلعن أبو السوق إذا بتخسّرك زوجك. إيش بتكسبي منها إذا طار من يدك. لو أنا في مكانك ومتأكدة أن السوق هي المشكلة، لوقفت وسطها، وصرخت بأعلى صوتي: خذوا السوق وما فيها، أنا ذاهبة إلى بيتي وزوجي. لم تكابر شريفة وتقل لابنة خالتها ما قالته لزوجها: لا وجود لي خارج السوق. وإنما اعترفت بعجزها: قاعدة أحاول، بس ما أنا قادرة. ببساطة أجابت حصة: مثل ما دخلتيها اخرجي منها. لن تغلق أبوابها عليك. منكسرة ردت: تظنين أن الأمر سهل! زجرتها بقوة: نعم سهل: دخلتيها خطوة خطوة، اخرجي منها خطوة .. خطوة.
