وهبت (لين) حياتها لمهنة التعليم.. واعتنقت مبادئ جديدة دافعت عنها باستماتة.. ولأنها فتاة صغيرة جميلة وذكية.. لم يقبل ذلك التغير اولئك الكبار التقليديون. إذعارضوها بشدة وهاجموها. وأمام هيئة التفتيش كانت لين أجبن من أن تواجههم. فنالها المزيد من النقد والإهانة.. فكرهت عضو اللجنة (كريستوفر يورك) وتعدد المواقف العنيفة بينهما، حتى خلقت جراحاً عميقة غائرة.. وقد العواطف دائماً.. أنها تحيل النهار إلى ليل معتم طويل لا تنفع معه الدموع.. لكن القلوب لها أحكامها..!!
