يحاول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب في المقام الأول بيان فضائل أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه وإثبات إمامته بالاستعانة بكتاب "نهج الحق وكشف الصدق" للإمام "الحسن بن يوسف ابن المطهر" حيث وجده كتاباً حافلاً بالفضل، مشحوناً بالقول الفصل في فضائل أمير المؤمنين وإمامته. هذا من ناحية ومن ناحية أخرى فقد كان لفاضل الأشاعرة في وقته "الفضل بن روز بهان" رد على العلامة ابن المطهر. وقد انبرى للإجابة عنه السيد نور الله الحسيني، فجاء الرد شافياً كما يهواه الحق ويرتضيه الانصاف، فكان من مؤلف الكتاب أن اقتدى به أيضاً من خلال كتابه "فضائل أمير المؤمنين وإمامته" الذي نقلب صفحاته، والذي ضمّنه ردوده على ما جاء عند الفضل، بعد إيراد المسألة عند ابن المطهر، وكان كثيراً ما ينقل عن الإمام الحسيني متعرضاً في بعض المقامات تتميماً للفائدة إلى بعض كلمات (ابن تيمية) التي يليق التعرض لها مما رد بها على كتاب (منهاج الكرامة) للإمام المصنف.
وكان مؤلف فضائل أمير المؤمنين وإمامته المظفر يورد المسألة ويقول: قال المصنف طيب الله سره، وقال الفضل، وأقول. أما المسائل التي تمّت للمؤلف محاجّتها فهي: المسألة الأولى في الإدراك وفيه (7) مباحث، المسألة الثانية في النظر وفيه (3) مباحث، المسألة الثالثة في صفاته تعالى وفيها (11) مبحثاً، المسألة الرابعة في النبوّة وفيها (3) مباحث، المسألة الخامسة في الإمامة وفيها أربعة مباحث، المسألة السادسة في المعاد وفيه مبحثان.
