تكون الكهربية والمغناطيسية محتوى هذا الجزء من مقرر بيركلي في الفيزياء. ولا يعتبر تسلسل الموضوعات غير عادي في إطاره العام: الكهرباء الاستاتية، التيارات المستمرة، المجال المغناطيسي، الحث الكهرومغناطيسي، الاستقطاب المغناطيسي الكهربائي للمواد. على أن تناولنا لهذه الموضوعات يختلف عن الطريقة التقليدية وينجلي هذا الاختلاف في الفصلين الخامس والسادس حيث تتناول المجالات المغناطيسية الكهربائية للشحنات المتحركة - استكمالاً لما جاء في الجزء الأول - على أنها نتائج للنسبية ولعدم تغير الشحنة الكهربية. ويركز هذا الاتجاه الانتباه على بعض المسائل الجوهرية مثل بقاء الشحنة، عدم تغير الشحنة ومعنى المجال. والأداة الشكلية الوحيدة لنظرية النسبية والتي هي هامة في واقع الأمر، هي تحويلات الاحداثيات للورنتز ومعادلة إضافة السرعات. وعلى الرغم من هذا فعلى الطالب أن يسترجع بعض الأفكار والمواقف التي استوعبها في الجزء الأول ومن بينها استعداده لأن ينظر للأشياء من مناطات اسناد مختلفة، وأن يقدر معنى عدم التغير ومبادئ التماثل كما أننا نفيد كثيراً في الجزء الثاني من مناقشات مبنية على مبدأ التراكب.
