"ويبدو أن تلك المخطوطات كانت مدفونة لفترة مئتي عام حيث لا يعرف عنها العالم شيئاً مما يجعلها مكتشفات مضافة إلى مخطوطات البحر الميت والأناجيل الغنوصية، غير أن أهم مخطوطة بين تلك المخطوطات التي تمثل أقدم كتاب مقدس في العالم اليوم هي المخطوطة السينمائية وهذه المخطوطة معروضة اليوم في المتحف البريطاني الذي يعتز بها ويعدها كنزاً لا يُقدر بثمن.
ولقد ظلت هذه المخطوطة غير معروفة للعالم الخارجي حتى تمّ اكتشافها في أواسط القرن التاسع عشر، وذلك في الدير الذي يقع في جبل سيناء.
يتناول جزء من هذا الكتاب الطريقة التي انتقلت بها المخطوطة السينمائية المكتشفة في جبل سيناء في منطقة الشرق الأوسط إلى لندن. ويتناول الجزء الثاني من الكتاب قصة الرجل المتميز الذي كانت المخطوطة بالنسبة له بمثابة الكتاب المقدس. وقد دفع به هذا الاعتقاد إلى زيارة الدير ثلاث مرات وكرس وقته لدراسة تلك المخطوطة.
ولأهم من ذلك هو الطريقة التي عمّقت بها هذه المخطوطة، فهمنا للعقيدة المسيحية.
تعدّ هذه المخطوطة متميزة بين المخطوطات الإنجيلية، بصفتها أقدم كتاب مقدس في العالم، وتتضمن الأجزاء الكاملة للعهد الجديد ودليلاً على نص العهد القديم.
والفرق بين نص المخطوطة السينمائية والعهد الجدي، كما يراها المسيحيون في يومنا هذا، أمر يدعو للدهشة. ومع أن العلماء قد فحصوا ودرسوا المخطوطة، إلا أن قلة من المسيحيين يدركون الاختلاف وقلة أخرى تقبل الاعتراف بتلك النصوص.
وأخيراً فإن الاكتشافات التي عُثر عليها في دير القديسة كاثرينا ستدعونا لمراجعة موضوع مهم في المسيحية، يدور حول قيامة المسيح".
