في خضم البحث عن تفاسير معقولة لحالات نكوص السيكولوجيا الاجتماعية للمكونات العراقية الى أصولها البدائية، كلما وقع طارئ في حياتها السياسية أو جدّ جديد في علاقاتها الاجتماعية، ومن ثم استعصاء اهتدائها الى مخارج آمنة تتيح لها التغلب على نوبات التطرف في الذهنيات والعنف في السلوكيات التي تجتاحها كما الوباء!. اتضح لنا ان أغلب تلك المظاهر يمتح من نسغ تضرب جذوره في عمق الجغرافيا العراقية، التي طالما عبرت عن نفسها بمختلف صور التطرف الايكولوجي والقسوة المناخية، بحيث يمكننا القول ان تلك المعطيات العنيفة والقاسية طبعت بطابعها الفريد عناصر الشخصية الاجتماعية وألهمتها تلك المشاكسة في التصورات والخشونة في الممارسات، كما وأضفت عليها تلك المظاهر من الحزن الدائم والتشاءوم المستمر. ومما زاد الطين بلّة، وبصرف النظر عن اختلاف الانحدارات السوسيولوجية وتباين الخلفيات الانثروبولوجية للانسان العراقي، فانه لم يتمكن من ادخال العامل الجغرافي في منظومة وعيه الفردي أو الجماعاتي او الجمعي، باعتباره يشكل عنصرا "أساسيا" من عناصر بلورت انتماؤه الاقليمي ومكونا "جوهريا" من مكونات تجسيد ولائه الوطني، الأمر الذي حال دون قدراته على كسر حدة الاستقطابات المناطقية والقبائلية التي أطرت علاقاته، مثلما تعذر عليه كبح جماح غلواء الحساسيات العنصرية والطائفية التي استوطنت تصوراته. وعلى ضوء هذه الخلفيات الملتبسة والمعطيات المضطربة والتصورات المشوشة، ارتأينا أن نضع هذه الدراسة المتواضعة والمبتسرة للبحث في تداعيات تلك المواريث التي تركتها الجغرافيا العراقية على كينونة الشخصية العراقية بصورة عامة، ومن ثم الكشف عن أنماط تصدعات بنية الوعي لهذه الشخصية حيال انتماؤها للجغرافيا وولاؤها للمكان.
