تعتبر دراسة التشريعات الاجتماعية من الأهمية بمكان بالنسبة لممارس الخدمة الاجتماعية باعتبارها مهنة تتعامل مع الإنسان فى أوجه حياته الثلاث كفرد وكضو فى جامعة صغيرة وكعضو فى مجتمع محلى، ولكى يكون الاخصائى الاجتماعى على وعى بحقوق وواجبات الأفراد فى شتى مجالات الحياة الاجتماعية والتشريعات التى تنظيم العلاقات بين البشر فى هذه المجالات. لذلك يتضمن هذا الكتاب ثمانية فصول يتناول الفصل الأول منها العلاقة بين التشريعات والقانون، ويعالج الفصل الثانى تشريعات الزواج والأسرة، ويوضح الفصل الثالث قانون الطفل المصرى، ويتناول الفصل الرابع تشريعات المعوقين، ويعالج الفصل الخامس تشريعات العمل والعمال، ويعرض الفصل السادس لتشريعات رعاية الإحداث، ويتناول الفصل السابع قانون الجمعيات والمؤسسات غير الحكومية وأخيراً نعرض فى الفصل الثامن للميثاق الأخلاق لمهنة الخدمة الاجتماعية.
