إن اتساع دائرة العلوم الحديثة بدرجة جعلت المعاجم الانجليزية المتداولة عاجزة عن الوفاء بمطالب الباحثين والدارسين لهذه العلوم، وكنا نعلم علم اليقين مدى ما يستشعره شباب الباحثين من مرارة عندما يصادفهم مصطلح يرددونه دون معرفة بتفسيره آملين أن تقودهم المعاجم المتداولة إلى هذا التفسير، وربما تقتصر بعض المعاجم على إبراز مصطلح ما من غير شرح أو تعريف، بل قد تتداخل بعض المعاني عند تعريب مصطلح بعينه . لذلك راعينا ذلك ووضعنا جميع هذه المشاكل نصبة أعيننا ونحن نعد هذا المعجم . ويسرد هذا المعجم المصطلحات العلمية باللغة الانجليزية مرتبة ترتيبًا أبجديًا طبقًا للحروف اللاتينية ومترجمة إلى اللغة العربية مع شرح علمي مبسط وموجز لكل مصطلح . لقد حاولنا جاهدين جمع وتفسير ما يقرب عن 6000 مصطلح في فروع علم الحشرات المختلفة وكذا بعض المصطلحات في مجال المبيدات وعلوم الحيوان والأحياء الدقيقة والنبات.
