إذا اعتبرنا العرفان حالة ملكوتية وحقيقة روحانية وإِلهيّة - كما يراها الكثير من أهل البصيرة والذين يسلكون طريق المحبة والعشق الإلهيّ، ويعبّرون عنها بالحالة العرفانية والإلهية - فإنه يجب علينا أن نبحث عنها في أعماق وباطن الروح وسرّ الوجود.
وفي هذه الحالة، يعتبر العرفان إلهاماً إلهياً، وحقيقة فطرية تكون على شكل قوة وموهبة موجودة في جبلّة الإنسان يهبها الله تعالى لعباده، ومن أجل الوصول إلى تلك الحالة، يجب علينا أن نربي أنفسنا على المعارف والأخلاق والأهداف الواردة في أدعية الأئمة الطاهرين وذلك عن طريق الإستعانة بالقرآن الكريم والروايات، حتى نستطيع أن نتخلّص من جميع الدّنس والخطايا ونحرّر الروح الإنسانية ولنرجّح الرحيل على التقوقع في هذه الدّنيا ويصبح الإنسان قدوة حقيقية لمعنى العارف.
والكتاب الذي فيه الجذور الأصلية للعرفان النظري، هو الكتاب الذي تنبع أصوله من كتاب الله تعالى والوحي والنبوة والإمامة فقط.
والعارف الحقيقي، هو الذي يأخذ قواعد العرفان من المقربين لله تعالى والصديقين والصالحين والأولياء، وهو الذي يؤمن بتلك القواعد من أعماق وجوده ويعمل بذلك.
وبناء على الرأي الأول، فالعرفان، عبارة عن حالة ملكوتية ومنحة سماوية وفطرية والتي تظهر في المرحلة الأولى في أعماق الروح والنفس ومع نور الإيمان واليقين تصل إلى مرحلة الكمال، ويمكن رؤية آثار تلك الحالة في أعماق حركات وسلوك ذلك العارف.
