بقدر ما مثلته "صامد" من تجربة متفردة في مسيرة النضال الوطني الفلسطيني الطويل، وفي تجارب الشعوب التي خاضت وتخوض كفاحها ضد الاستعمار والإمبريالية وقوى الاحتلال والقهر، فإن هذه التجربة تعني لي، على المستوى الشخصي وخبرات الحياة، الشيء الكثير، فهي تجربة عزيزة علي، لأنها ساهمت في حل مشكلات صعبة لأبناء شعبنا في المخيمات في الماضي، وظلت تقوم بدورها، إلى أن عملت قوى الانشقاق على مصادرة الكثير من مشاريعها، بعد أن فشلت إسرائيل بتدمير عدد كبير منها في غزو عام 1982م.
منذ مطلع السبعينات، ومع تنامي الوعي بضرورة الالتفات إلى الأبعاد الأخرى للثورة، إلى جانب العمل السياسي والعسكري، أولت حركة التحرير الوطني الفلسطيني (فتح) المزيد من الاهتمام للبعد الاجتماعي والاقتصادي والثقافي للثورة الفلسطينية، فاتخذت قرارها الثوري الشجاع والحضاري بتحويل تلك الفكرة، التي راودتها طويلاً، إلى واقع ملموس على الأرض، عبر إطلاق مؤسسة معامل أبناء شهداء فلسطين، والتي اشتقت اسمها الحركي المختصر (صامد) من كل ما تنطوي عليه كلمة الصمود من معان نبيلة، ومنحتني شرف الإشراف عليها، والعمل مع كوكبة من الكوادر الكفؤة والشغيلة المخلصين على تطوير أنشطتها التي كبرت وكبرنا معها، وقد شكلت هذه التجربة، بالنسبة لي كما لجميع الذين عملوا في (صامد)، تجربة عمر وكفاح أعتز بها بشكل استثنائي.
