لما كانت اللغة مجموعة رموز صوتية يتواصل بها الأفراد للتعبير عن أفكارهم ومشاعرهم، فقد اقتضى المنطق أن تُنسَّق تلك الرموز ويوالف بينها بطريقة واضحة سلسلة شائعة تكفل إيصال الرسالة اللغوية بدقة متناهية وبيان سليم.
ولأن اللغة وعاء الفكر والوجدان أن تنبض بما يفيض منها في القريحة، فقد تعددت وسائل التعبير اللغوي، بين مقالة وقصة وخاطرة ورسالة وغيرها، لتتيح لكل مبدع أن يُنشئ من نسيج فكره ما يراه الإطار الأنسب لما يجول في خاطره.
ويُعَدّ مجتمع الطلبة أكثر المجتمعات حاجة للتعبير الإنشائي الكتابي؛ لكونهم يجتازون أطوار النمو اللغوي بالقراءة والإستماع والمحادثة والكتابة طوراً طوراً وصولاً إلى مرحلة النضج اللغوي؛ مما يستلزم رعاية قدراتهم التعبيرية وتنميتها وصقلها.
لكل ما سبق، فقد جاء تصنيف هذا الكتاب ليكسر حاجز الرهبة التي تصيب طلابنا في المرحلة الثانوية إزاء الكتابة الإنشائية بتبسيط قواعدها، وبيان سماتها، وتقديم نماذج تطبيقية مشرقة منها يسهل محاكاتها، تطبيقاً للمثل الصيني: (لا تعطني كل يوم سمكة، بل علمني كيف أصطادها).
