لا بد أن دراسة أعمال كامي التي اشتملت عليها وفصول كتاب "ألبير كامي وأدب التمرد". قد أثبتت أن هذه الأعمال تعبر عن موقفين: موقف أخلاقي وموقف فكري يتميز كل منها عن الآخر. وقد رأى المؤلف بأن كامي أضفى على هذا الموقف طابعاً فردياً جعله يتبوأ مستوى بعينه يميزه عن بقية معاصريه، وفي مستوى آخر تعبر القصص والمسرحيات والمقالات عن اتجاهات عامة في الأدب الحديث يدرجها الفرنسيون تحت عنوان "أدب المشكلة Litterature Problematique فوجهة النظر التي تنطوي عليها هذه التآليف، كما يقول الكاتب، وجهة شخصية، لكنها استجابة كامي الشخصية للسمات السائدة في عصره. مضيفاً بأن كتاباته عن العبث على سبيل المثال، تنتمي إلى عالم رحب، حيث الإحساس باللامنطقية يزداد وحدة وعنفاً. ويعد مؤلف رواية "الغريب" و"أسطورة سيزيف" شاهداً على عالم يميزه التفكك الدائم، والصراع، والعنف، الإخفاق في التعبير تعبيراً كافياً، وقد أدى الافتقار إلى معايير عامة أو قيم يقبلها الجميع إلى قلق واضطراب وإلى الدعوة التي يتميز بها "الإنسان اللامعقول". فالكتاب المعاصرون الذين يعتقد أنهم يتباينون كل التباين مثل مالرو، وسارتر، وبرونانو، وجرين، وفكونر، وكافكار، ويونجر، وغيرهم، قد أسهموا كل بطريقته الخاصة في "أدب المشكلة"، وبذلك عبروا عما عبر عنه كامي من إحساس بالقلق والبحث عن مغزى للتجربة. ولقد صاحب هذا الموقف العام الذي يتسم بالقلق والتساؤل نزعة من التمرد تعد خاصية أخرى من خصائص الأدب الحديث، كما أن التأكيد على بنية أو لا منطقية الوجود، أدى إلى رفض المطلقات التي تتولى مهمة تفسير هذا العبث، وتوحيد هذا الوجود المفكك، تلك القيم التي لا يؤكدها إلا جيل يثق في قدراته ثقة كبيرة، وتلك هي نزعة التمرد العام في أدب ألبير كامي التي كانت محور الدراسة على ضوء أعماله في هذا الكتاب.
