لذلك يتكون هذا الكتاب من أربعة أبواب: أصل ومنشا النفط وطرق الاستكشاف والاستخراج، التركيب الكيميائي، الخواص الفيزيائية والفيزيوكيمياء (فحوصات الجودة)، طرق التقييم والتصنيف للنفط ومنتجاته. يغطي الكتاب كل متطلبات مهندس النفط والمهندس الكيميائي لدرجة البكالوريوس والماجستير وكل العاملين من مخبريين وفنيين واقتصاديين في مجال النفط أو مشتقاته. يدرّس في أقسام الهندسة الكيميائية وهندسة البترول.
