الصلاة أحد المباني الكبرى التي يرتكز عليها الدين الإسلامي، وهي النهر الجاري الذي يغتسل منه العصاة في كل يوم، وهي قرة عين المؤمن، ومفره من متاعب الحياة وهمومها، وهي التي من أداها كان في ذمة الله، وهي التي تعصم صاحبها من العقوبة في الدار الآخرة، وهي التي يستحق بها المؤمن النعيم السرمدي في الجنة.
لهذا كله، قرر عدد من الفقهاء أن الذي لا يصلي ليس بمسلم، جاءت بذلك نصوص متعددة عن النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام، وتكمن قوة هذا القول: في أن الذي لا يصلي، لم يبق له من حقيقة الإيمان إلا الإيمان الفلسفي المعرفي الذي لا يلتزم بعمل، بينما ذهب جمهور الفقهاء إلى بقاء اسم الإسلام له، واستدلوا بالنصوص المستفيضة الدالة على نجاة من أقر بالشهادتين.
في هذا الكتاب أود أن أناقش مسألة مهمة تتعلق بموضوع الصلاة، ألا وهي مسألة صلاة الجماعة، فمنذ أن عقلت والذي أسمعه من أئمة المساجد وعامة الناس وخاصتهم أن الصلاة مع الجماعة في المسجد فرض لا يجوز الإخلال به، وأن من تخلف عنها قد ارتكب كبيرة من كبائر الذنوب وصار من أهل الوعيد في الدار الآخرة، ورأيت كيف ينكر الناس أشد الإنكار على من يصلي في بيته، وكيف يطلقون ألسنتهم فيه بالذم والتوبيخ، حتى صار الرجل يشعر بالقلق لتخلفه عن صلاة واحدة، ليس خوفاً من الله، فالله هو الرحمن الرحيم، وإنما خوفاً من سياط ألسنة الناس التي لا ترحم ونظرات الانتقاص والاحتقار التي لا تكف عن مطاردته.
وليس غرضي من هذا البحث إظهار المخالفة، وليس قصدي تزهيد الناس في الصلاة في المساجد ولا صدهم عن سبيل الله وإنما المراد هو تخفيف غلو الناس في هذه المسألة والدفاع عن أولئك الذين يصلون في بيوتهم، فهم ليسوا بمنافقين ولا مرتدين، إذ كيف يكون منافقاً من اقتدى بأئمة الإسلام وعلماء الملة.
