هذا الكتاب، أكثر من كتاب شعر، وأغنى من كتاب نثر، ولا يلتزم بالبحور والأوزان، وإنما يلتزم فقط بما في وجدان الشاعر ووجدان الناس لهذا جاء كتاب مشاعر ولا كتاب شعر.
في "جملة لا تناسب القياس" جمل شعرية مختزلة، شديدة الكثافة، خفيفة الظل رقيقة البوح تنسل إلى ذات القارئ لتوقظ فيه مشاعر إنسانية، ومعانٍ سامية عبَر عنها شاعرنا إجمل تعبير. يقول في قصيدة بعنوان [كفاف]: لا أريد أن أمشي/ أريد أن أكف/ ليس كمتفرجٍ وإنما كعابر أيضاً/ أريد أن أختفي وأستمر بالشعور/ والنظر/ والحياة/ لم تصل ابتساماتي ولا وجيبي/ ولم أعدل من هيئتي/ كيلا ينكشف الأمر/ ليس خجلاً/ لكنها الرغبة في عدم بقاء الآثار/ لست هنا أصلاً/ وليس ثمة هناك.
أما "حضن ثالث" فنختار قصيدة بعنوان [أحلام] يقول فيها: "أحلامي لا أتذكرها/ أدفنها في نسيانٍ/ ليس كما يجب خؤوناً/ لولا ذلك: أي طيور ماتت في حلقي/ تاركة ما يستقبل خطو الغد/ شجر كراهيةٍ.. أو شبه رسائل ساخرة تبعثها الجثث إلى العالم: كم نبغضك (...)".
عن عيد الخميسي يقول الناقد "عبده خال" إنه "صوت شعري له خصوصيته ونكهته المتميزة. يكتب القصيدة بهمها اليومي فتخرج طازجة تفوح برائحة الشوارع والبيوت والقامات المخبأة في التعب".
يعد هذا العمل الكتاب الشعري الثالث للشاعر عيد الخميسي وقد ضم مجموعتين شعريتين الأولى: (في حالة كهذه، والثانية (حضن ثالث).
