كما نتعرف على شخصيات لا تنسى مثل الخادمة اليوغوسلافية الصارمة التي تتكلم بإسبانية مضحكة، وشخصيتّي ريتا وماريانا المحوريتين، وغيرها من الشخصيات التي تزخر بها هذه الرواية التي قال عنها قارئ مجهول: "بينما كنت منهمكاً في قراءة هذا الكتاب، غمرتني صور كثيرة من طفولتي، وأحداث كثيرة من حياتي، كأن الكاتب لم يكن يعرض حياة كلاوديو بل جزءاً من حياتي أنا، في بقعة من العالم نائبة ومختلفة كل الإختلاف عن البلد الذي أنتمي إليه".
