ان وجود المستشفيات بين التكتلات السكانية لامر ضرورى وهام ليكون اسعاف المرض فى اقرب وقت ممكن ولكن لهذه المستشفيات مخلفات والتخلص منها شديد الصعوبه ويتطلب الحذر الشديد والمعامله الخاصة واذا ما كان فى المستشفى نظام الاحتراف الذاتى لهذه المخلفات فان هذا يمثل مصدرا لتلوث الهواء ببعض المركبات الضاره المتطايره شديدة السمية وهى ذات طبيعه تراكمية فى جسم الانسان مما يؤثر على المتعرضين لهذه المواد الضارة بصفه متكررة وهم من العاملين فى المستشفيات او من السكان المحيطين بمواقع المستشفيات ويزيد من احتمالات اصابتهم بانواع السرطان وفشل وظائف الاعضاء والعقم والضعف الجنسى والاجهاض المتكرر لدى السيدات وقد نتج عن زيادة تأثير تلوث البيئة الخارجية للمستشفيات زيادة الاعباء الاقتصادية والاجتماعية الواقعة على ادارة هذه المنشات .. ولهذا فانة من الضرورى دمج البعد البيئى فى ادارة المستشفيات منذ مراحل التخطيط لانشاءها واختيار المواقع المخصصة لها عن طريق اجراء دراسات تقييم الاثر البيئى للبيئة المحيطة بالموقع المختار .
