شوقي محمد أبو خليل، كاتب وباحث فلسطيني، له العديد من المؤلفات من أشهرها كتابه (الإسلام في قفص الاتهام)، ولد في بيسان بفلسطين، ورحل مع أسرته إلى دمشق فتعلم بها، إجازة في التاريخ من جامعتها. دكتوراه من أكاديمية العلوم في أذربيجان.
وظائفه: أستاذ ومدير في الثانويات، موجه اختصاصي في وزارة التربية، عضو في قسم المناهج والكتب، مسؤول في دائرة الامتحانات بها، أستاذ الحضارة الإسلامية والاستشراق في كلية الدعوة شوقي محمد أبو خليل، كاتب وباحث فلسطيني، له العديد من المؤلفات من أشهرها كتابه (الإسلام في قفص الاتهام)، ولد في بيسان بفلسطين، ورحل مع أسرته إلى دمشق فتعلم بها، إجازة في التاريخ من جامعتها. دكتوراه من أكاديمية العلوم في أذربيجان.

صلب هذا الكتاب، وأفكاره الرئيسية كانت أطروحة نلت عليها "الدكتوراه في التاريخ الإسلامي"، من أكاديمية العلوم في جمهورية أذربيجان، ولقد قدمت وعممت تحت عنوان: "تاريخ الإسلام والمقاطعات الشرقية للخلافة الإسلامية في مؤلفات بندلي الجوزي"، والنسخة العربية هذه نسخة معدلة عن الأطروحة كما قدمت لتتناسب مع سلسلة: (في الميزان).
في هذا الكتاب ما للأستاذ بندلي الجوزي وما عليه، خصوصاً إذا علمنا أنه من أوائل الذين فسروا تاريخنا الإسلامي تفسيراً مادياً -ماركسياً، وعلى الرغم من ذلك، فهو يمتاز بثقافة واسعة، وشخصية مطلعة، ولا يحمل خلفية الاستشراق الموظف لخدمة التبشير، مع أمانة في الإحالة إلى المصادر، ودقة في النقل، إلى جانب دفاعه عن أمته العربية، وحنينه إلى وطنه، ودعوته إلى الوحدة العربية لجمع شمل طاقاتها.
وعلى الرغم من كل ما سبق، لجأ بندلي إلى التمريض والتضعيف في مواطن كثيرة، مع الدعوى بلا دليل، والجزم في أمور لم يثبت، وتفسيره لبعض الآيات الكريمة بالمعنى الذي يراه، وهذا بعد عن الموضوعية، وعن روح الحوار العلمية، التي عهدناها عند الأستاذ الدكتور بندلي الجوزي.
