هذا الكتاب يعالج عدداً من القضايا الحساسة في حياة المسلمين.
استهلَّه المؤلف بتعريف وافٍ لحقيقة من حقائق دين الإسلام، وبيّن أن حقيقته تبدأ بمعرفة الله وتنتهي بالعبودية لله، وبدونهما لا يتحقق الإسلام، وأنها الطريقة المثلى لقطف أجلّ ثمرة من ثمرات الإيمان بالله: ألا وهي محبة الله عز وجل.
ثم يتحدث عن أثر العبادة في ترسيخ العقيدة الإسلامية في القلوب، وأثر المسجد في ترسيخ الأخوة والمساواة.
ويتوقف عند مسألة طالما شوّشت عقول كثيرين، مفادها: كيف يتأتّى للعبد أن يوفّق بين محبّة مولاه، سبحانه وتعالى، وبين تقلّبه في المصائب والآلام التي ابتلاه مولاه بها، والتي هي مدعاة تذمر وسخط عادة، وليست مدعاة حب!!
ويردّ على من يتهم الإسلام بالقصور، والعجز عن معالجة ظواهر الانحراف في المجتمع، فيبيّن دور المرشدين والدعاة في حماية المجتمع من الانحراف. ثم يختم بالرّد على دعوات الحداثة التي يطالعنا بها بين الحين والآخر– بدعوى أن الإسلام قاصر عن مواكبة التطور والمستجدات المعاصرة - أناس قد وصفهم رسول الله ? بقوله: ((ألا ليذادن رجال عن حوضي- أي ليطردن - كما يذاد البعير الضال، أقول: ألا هلمّ ألا هلمّ، فيقال: إنك لا تدري كم بدلوا من بعدك، فأقول: فسحقاً فسحقاً فسحقاً)). وأوضح الفرق بين التجديد المطلوب والتبديل المرفوض.
