تم تأسيس الفيديك لأول مرة عام 1913, بمساهمة ثلاث جمعيات أوروبية للمهندسين الإستشاريين هى جمعية المهندسين الإستشاريين البلجيكية (CICB), والجمعية الفرنسية للمهندسين الإستشاريين (CICF), والجمعية السويسرية للمهندسين الإستشاريين (ASIC) ومن هنا جاءت التسمية الفرنسية.
وبعد الحرب العالمية الثانية أعاد الفيديك تنظيم نفسه من جديد, وكان الهدف الرئيسى فى تلك المرحلة يتمثل فى إعادة تنظيم وزيادة عدد الجمعيات الهندسية المنتسبة للفيديك. وشهدت الخمسينيات والستينيات تطور الفيديك بشكل كبير, وأصبح يحظى بإهتمام دولى واسع.
وسنتناول فى هذا الكتاب عقود الفيديك بالشرح والتفصيل, وذلك من خلال أربعة فصول هى: الفيديك منظمة و عقداً وأثاراً, إلتزامات أطراف عقد الفيديك, حل النزاعات والتحكيم, وتطبيق عقود الفيديك فى الدول العربية, وأخيراً ملحق الدراسة ويحتوى على الضمانات الخاصة بعيوب مابعد الإنشاء فى عقود البناء والإنشاءات.
