سبق وأن تبلورت نظريات واتجاهات في مرحلة سادت فيها الأفكار التطورية في النصف الثاني من القرن التاسع عشر، إلا أنها تجسدت خلال القرن الماضي وتحديدا في نصفه الأولوذلك من خلال ثلاثة اتجاهات رئيسية تفاعلت مع بعضهاهي: الاتجاه التاريخي والاتجاه البنائي الوظيفيثم الاتجاه التاريخي النفسي(الشـكليون)وهذا كله كان حصيلة الجهود المعرفية لمجموعة من رواد المناهج،فديكارت1637ماستند إلى مسيرة عقلانية وتحليلية في تفكيك الأفكار المركبة وجعلها أفكار بسيطة ثم يأتي بعده “ادغار موران”ليتيح فهم تعقيدات الظواهر الإنسانية،فكان هذا الأخير ركيزة مهـدت لظهور ما يسمى صراع المناهج وهوأمر أدخل حراكا إلى الجامعات الألمانيةطيلة نهاية فترة القرن التاسع عشر،فدخلوا في صراع حاد وتشابكات متعددة،شارك فيها العديد من المفكرين أمثال أرنـست مـاخ …كارل يسبرس،هنريش ريكرت وجـورج سيمل وماكس فيبر وغيرهم،أما الشك الذي كان يعتري نقاشهم فكان هل ثمة منهج خاص بالعلوم الاجتماعية؟هكذا كان العقل الغربي منذ الاستقراء البيكوني “فرانسيس بـيكون”وصولا إلى مفهوم القطيعة عند “غاسـتون باشلار“والثورة في العلم عند تومس كوهن يوظف مفهوم التحطيم والتدميروالتحـول الانقلابي وهي اسـتعارات قادمة من ميادين متشعبة، تعبرعن جوهر الطبيعة العلمية والثقافية لتلك المجتمعات الغربية التي ترتبط دوريا بين كل مرحلة تاريخية مانحة الأسبقية للتغييرالمنهجي مع إعادة التفكير والتأويل في قراءة تراثها.
