ليلة اكتمال القمر هي الرواية الثامنة لمولينا ونشرت عام 1997، وفيها يشعر القارئ للوهلة الأولى بأن الرواية هي ذات طابع الروايات البوليسية التي تميزت بها بعض أولى أعماله، ولكن بعد القراءة المتفحصة المتأنية يكتشف ان التقنيات والغاية منها قد أختلفتا، إلا أن الكاتب لجأ إلى هذه الحبكة كي يجعل القارئ يفكر في تاريخ اسبانيا النعاصر، ويتأمل ويتدبر الىفات والاثام الحالية من العنف وأوجهة المختلفة، والضمائر السيئة، بالإضافة إلى التفكك وعدم التضامن أو المؤازرة، تقوم الرواية، علاوة على الرغبة في جذب انتباه القارئ، على تحقيقات يقوم بها مفتش بوليس للبحث عن قاتل طفلة، وهو مريض سيكوباتي يشد انتباه وسائل الاعلام الأشخاص، وهذا الموضوع، سواء اكان في الروايات أو الافلام البوليسية، لاقى نجاحاً كبيراً في حقبة الثمانينيات والتسعينيات وخير مثال على ذلك سلسلة الافلام التي بدأت بفيلم "صمت الحملان" والتي تلقى رواجاً حتى يومنا هذا.
