صدر كتاب الأنظمة الدينامية مع هنري بوانكاري ضمن سلسلة "رحلات في الرياضيات" تخليداً للذكرى المئوية لوفاة هنري بوانكاري، الذي يعدَه البعض أعظم عالم رياضي في القرن التاسع عشر، وهو يتناول في الوقت نفسه جوانب من شخصيته وأعماله، فيما يمكن أن نطلق عليه مصطلح "البيوغرافيا العلمية".
ويجعلنا هذا الكتاب نكتشف أيضاً جانبين من حياته، لم يتم التوقف عندهما فيما سبق وهما: جانب المثقف المنافح عن قضية آمن بها وطيدة الصلة بتصوره عن العلم، وعلاقته بقضايا المجتمع، والمقصود هنا الدور الهام والحاسم الذي اضطلع به في قضية الضابط دريفوس، في فترة يخبرنا الكتاب أنها شهدت ولادة مفهوم المثقف بوصفه فاعلاً جديداً في المجالين الإجتماعي والسياسي، وهو ما يطرح سؤال التقاطع بين العلم والمجتمع، والعلاقات بين الممارسات العلمية والوعي المواطن، وحول مكانة العلم داخل البلدان الديمقراطية، وميل العلماء إلى التدخل في القضايا الإجتماعية، وأيضاً حول أخلاقيات العالم وإستقلالية العلم.
ومن علم وقضايا السياسة والمجتمع، ننتقل إلى لعبة لم تكن تتوقع أن تجد لها مكاناً في كتب الفيزياء وعلم الرياضيات، وهي لعبة البلياردو في علاقتها بالنظام الدينامي، وطريقة إشتغاله في مختلف الأبعاد، يتمثّل في كون هذه اللعبة مثالاً غنياً للأنظمة الدينامية التي تدرس أيضاً مسائل من الميكانيكا السماوية، ومنها خاصة مسألة الأجسام الثلاثة، إنطلاقاً من سؤال يجمع بين النظامين، هل يمكن توقّع موقع إرتدادات كرة للعبة البلياردو؟... وأيضاً موقع الأرض بعد مئات الآلاف من السنين؟ ليس عالم الرياضيات شخصاً يزعم القدرة على التنبؤ بالغيب، ولكنه يطرح الأسئلة، ويصوغ الفرضيات والبرهنات، وهو ما سنكتشفه في رحلتنا داخل الرياضيات، برفقة هنري بوانكاري.
