يأتي هذا الكتاب لمساعدة مصممي صفحات الوب الذين يرغبون في تطوير صفحاتهم بطرق ديناميكية. يناقش الجزء الأول تقنية أسلوب الصفحات المتتالية (CSS), ويناقش الجزء الثاني التقنيات المستخدمة في توضع (Position) العناصر في الصفحة لجعل محتوى الصفحة ديناميكياً, وبعد أن ينتهي القارئ من هذين الجزأين يكون قد أمتلك أساسيات لغة DHTML وأصبح قادراً على أن ينتقل إلى الجزء الثالث الذي يمثل المرحلة الأولى والهامة لإيجاد حلول لأكثر المشاكل التي تصادف المصمم حيوية, وهي تصميم صفحات الوب المستقلة عن أداة التصفح مع إعادة هيكلة بعض المفاهيم الديناميكية وتطويرها بالشكل المناسب للتطبيقات.
وينتقل الجزء الرابع والأخير بالقارئ إلى الملامح الكائنية في المنحى في تصميم صفحات الوب, والتي تمثل في اعتقادنا نقطة القوة في هذا الكتاب فإذا استطاع القارئ الارتقاء إلى هذا المستوى فإنه يمكنه القول بأنه يستطيع أن يصمم ما تعجز عنه الأدوات المتاحة في التصميم, وأن يترك بصماته على التصميم من خلال مقدرته على بناء كائنات جديدة لتناسب تطبيقاته.
إضافة إلى ذلك سيتعرف القارئ إلى أغلب التقنيات التي تمكنه من تصميم محتوى ربما يكون قد شاهده بكثرة على الإنترنت ولا يدري كيفية تنفيذه, هذا وسندعم أغلب هذه التقنيات بالأمثلة التي توضح الفكرة دون تعقيد.
لا ندعي أن هذا الكتاب يمكن أن يغطي أي شيء في هذا المجال, لكنه على الأقل سيقترح على القارئ طريقة في التعامل مع بعض المشاكل الهامة التي يفتح حلها أمام مصمممي صفحات الوب آفاقاً واسعة لحل مشاكل مشابهة, نعتقد في النهاية أن القارئ سيستطيع حل المشاكل كثيرة ليس على المتصفحات التي نذكرها فحسب, بل على إصدارات أحدث وربما على نظم تشغيل أخرى, فنحن نطرح المشاكل العامة والعملية التي تصادف المصمم عند عرض صفحة على أكثر من متصفح. ويتطلب هذا الكتاب معرفة في استخدام لغة HTML ولغة Java Script.
