"الحج رحلة إلى الله" العنوان الذي اختاره الأستاذ طلال فائق الكمالي للحديث عن تجربته الروحية في بيت الله الحرام، فكما أن الحج هو عنوان للفيض الروحي، كذلك هو عنوان لعقيدة الإسلام وما ينطوي تحتها من بُعد فكري، وفلسفي وتربوي وأخلاقي لا يصلها المؤمن إلا بالحج، ومن هنا كانت وصية الإمام علي رضي الله عنه عند وفاته" (الله الله في بيت ربكم، فلا يخلون منكم ما بقيتم، فإنه إن ترك لم تناظروا)، كما روي عن الإمام الصادق رضي الله عنه أنه قال: (لا يزال الدين قائماً ما قامت الكعبة".
يقول المؤلف عن كتابه هذا "... أحاول أن أصل بقارئي الكريم إلى المغزى الحقيقي للحج كونه رحلة لرب العزة والجلالة، وأنه – أي الحج – أحد أقصر السُبُل للوصول إليه. ثم حاولت ... طرح ما ارتأيته من افكار مختلفة في رحاب الحج بأسلوب قصصي بسيط ... يمثل تجربة الكاتب وهو في طريقه إلى بيت الله مع بعض التصورات والخلجات والتأملات ... ثم حاولت أن تكوّن الفصول حسب تتابع حركة الحاجّ المقترنة بمناسكه التي يُلزم بها كحلقات مرتبطة، يبتدىء بها من أول رحلته إلى أن ينتهي بآخر شعيرة من شعائر الحج. وسيجد القارىء أني اعتمدت مبدأ الدليل العقلي والنقلي في البحث، مستنداً على الكتاب والسنّة ... وعززت ذلك بفتاوى أحد مراجعنا العظام – السيد السيستاني – لأحكام ومناسك الحج، كما ضمنته نصوصاً من الأدعية المأثورة لهذا المقام مع شرح بعض معانيها؛ ليكون الكتاب جامعاً الكثير من المطالب ...". وأخيراً يختتم المؤلف كتابه بشعار: لبيك اللهم لبيك، لبيك لا شريك لك لبيك، إن الحمد والنعمة لك والملك، لا شريك لك لبيك.
