اخترنا البحث في الاتجار بالبشر لأهميته في المجتمع الدولي الذي سلط عليه الضوء بشكل ملحوظ في الآونة الأخيرة من خلال المؤتمرات والاتفاقيات الدولية، كما أن الاتجار بالبشر يندرج في إطار حقوق الإنسان الذي يشغل بال الحكومات والشعوب والمؤسسات الدولية والأهلية التي تندد بانتهاكها، وهذه الدراسة ستساعد في إبراز مدى الاهتمام الذي توليه دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان من خلال الجهود التي بذلت والتي تبذل على صعيد المحلي، والتي تفوقت بها على كافة دول العالم العربي، فصارت مثلاً يحتذي به في هذا المجال في المنطقة.
وقد اندفعنا إلى اختيار هذا الموضوع لما له من تأثيرات على الأطفال والنساء بشكل خاص، الذين يعتبرون الحلقة الأضعف في المجتع إلا أنهم يعتبرون الفئة المسيطرة على نهضته وارتقائه واستمراره. بالإضافة إلى ما اطلعنا عليه من إحصاءات مروعة في التقرير العالمي للاتجار في الأشخاص الذي نشره مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعنى بالمخدرات والجريمة في فبراير من العام الحالي، فأردنا التعرف على الوجه القانوني لهذا الموضوع الذي ذاع صيته بشكل واضح في السنوات العديدة الماضية.
وعلى الرغم من أهمية هذا الموضوع، إلا أننا عجزنا عن العثور على مراجع عربية مختصة يمكن الاعتماد عليها لوضع بحث شاملة في هذا الخصوص، فاعتمدنا في ذلك على منشورات الأمم المتحدة بشكل أساسي.
قسمنا هذا البحث إلى فصل للتمهيد، ذكرنا فيه عدة تعريفات للاتجار بالبشر، ثم بداية هذه الظاهرة وتطورها مع مر العصور وأثر ظهور الدين الإسلامي عليها. وارتأينا تسليط الضوء على مبدأ الحرية الشخصية في الفصل الأول من هذا البحث. أما الفصل الثاني والأخير، فقد تناول طرق ووسائل الاتجار بالبشر وسبل الحد منها على المستويين الدولي والمحلي. ونرجو أن ينال بحثنا هذا على استحسان جميع القارئين، ويكون نواة لدراسات أشمل وأعم في هذا المجال.
