وقد الزم المؤلف نفسه في هذه الموسوعة بالدقة العملية، إذ حقق كل شاردة وواردة على أوثق المصادر وأجدرها بالاعتماد, وركز تركيزاً خاصاً على الموضوعات والمفاهيم الإسلامية، واعتنى بأعلام العرب والمسلمين في مختلف حقول المعرفة وعنى بدقة المصطلح العربي لما لذلك من أهمية بالغة في إرساء العلوم بالغربية في منطلقاتها الأساسية.
كما وضع المؤلف المقابل الإنكليزي لمختلف المعاني والمصطلحات العربية الواردة في ثنايا المواد، كما حرص على تحويل القارئ في داخل المادة أو في نهايتها إلى مواد تحسن مراجعتها استكمالاً للمعرفة، كما جمع كثير من المداخل التي ينتظمها باب واحد في موضع واحد يصح أن يكون مشردا مستقلاً برأسه.
