على الرغم من الصعوبات، المتمثلة في تشعب المعارف التي يجب على فيلسوف الدين التسلح بها قبل الشروع في بناء بحثه، إلا أن الخطورة الحقيقة تكمن في موقف رجال الدين المتشدد، والجمهور الساخط من النتائج التي يخلص إليها فيلسوف الدين الذي أقل ما يناله من هؤلاء هو رميه بالإلحاد، والهرطقة، والمروق، والتجديف، ولم يكن فيلسوفنا رودلف بولتمان إلا واحداً من أولئك المغامرين الذين أبوا إلا ان يخوضوا هذا المعترك بعد استعدادهم لهذه الرحلة التي لم يحسنوا تقدير عواقبها، فتناول بقلمه النقدي إصحاحات العهد الجديد، ومع صعوبة كتابات بولتمان، اجتهدت في عرض افكاره، والتعبير عن آرائه من خلال هذه الدراسة التي تنقسم إلى خمسة فصول يسبقها مدخل ويذيلها خاتمة: وقد تناولت في المدخل "حياة بولتمان وآثاره الفكرية" واقفاً على اهم المؤثرات التي ساهمت في بناء آرائه، وتشكيل أفكاره، ثم عرضت لأهم مصنفاته، وترجماته، والطابع العام لفلسفته، ومدى تأثرها ببيئته الإجتماعية (1-الفصل الأول: وعنوانه: أصول العقائد المسيحية بين الفلسفة واللاهوت، 2- الفصل الثاني: وعنوانه: الدين والأسطورة، 3- الفصل الثالث: وعنوانه: منهج الهرمنيوطيقا في دراسة النص المقدس، 4- الفصل الرابع: وعنوانه: اللاهوت بين العقل والإيمان، 5- الفصل الخامس: وعنوانه: الدين والحرية الإنسانية).
