يشتمل على قسمين من الدراسات التى تتناول ظاهرة الإغتراب: القسم الأول، ويضم أربع دراسات نظرية: تعرض الأولى منها لمفهوم الإغتراب وأبعاده، وتتناول الدراسة الثانية أنواع الاغتراب، وتتطرق الدراسة الثالثة لعلاقة الاغتراب بكل من التنشئة الإجتماعية والأنساق القيمية، وتتناول الدراسة الرابعة علاقة الإغتراب ببعض الإضطرابات النفسية والإجتماعية: مثل التطرف والعنف والإرهاب وتعاطى المخدرات.
أما القسم الثانى من هذا الكتاب فيشتمل على ثلاث دراسات ميدانية: تهدف الأولى منها إلى بحث علاقة الإغتراب بكل من التوافق وتوكيد الذات ومركز التحكم والقلق والإكتئاب، أما الدراسة الميدانية الثانية فتبحث علاقة الإغتراب بكل من الإبداع والتفاؤل والتشاؤم، وتلقى الدراسة الميدانية الثالثة والأخيرة من هذا الكتاب الضوء على علاقة الإغتراب بالمفارقة القيمية.
