Dans différents pays les droits des femmes sont contestés, brisés ou ne sont pas respectés à cause du fait que les femmes restent soumises à des traditions patriarcales archaïques. Les femmes qui ont pris conscience de leur situation comptent d’abord sur elles-mêmes et tant mieux si elles bénéficient durant certaines périodes d’un soutien politique. Mais ce n’est pas toujours le cas et souvent elles doivent lutter contre les différents intégrismes, qui imposent leurs règles en utilisant une interprétation erronée des principes religieux. La situation peut être extrême comme sous l’Etat islamique ou elle peut être difficile mais avec une certaine marge d’expression limitée comme en Iran. Si les femmes Kurdes ont pris les armes pour défendre leur territoire et aussi leurs droits, c’est un contexte spécial de guerre civile, où les autres moyens de défense ne sont pas adaptés. C’est en s’organisant et en s’exprimant dans l’espace public qu’elles peuvent progresser et faire reconnaitre leurs droits. Nelly Jazra, docteur en sciences économiques, a vecu et travaillé dans différents pays en particulier l’Algérie, le Portugal et la Belgique. Elle s’est surtout consacrée à des études et des publications économiques. Elle partage sa vie entre la Belgique et le Liban et collabore avec plusieurs organisations, en particulier, celles luttant pour le droit des femmes. Elle est l’auteur de quatre livres «Au pays du cèdre», «Femmes dans les printemps arabes», «Le Clair-Obscur Rue Abdel Wahab Beyrouth», et d’un livre pour enfants «Kasaia découvre».
