تعتبر مسألة "المعاد" والبحث في إشكالية طبيعة نشأته الجسمانية أو الروحانية، واحدةً من تلك القضايا الفلسفية القديمة التي عني بها الفكر الإسلامي، من حيث دراسة إمكان إثباتها بالبرهان الفلسفي، وعمل جاهداً على تفهّمها ومقاربتها على ضوء العقل، بعدما تعبّد بمفهومها الشرعي.
إن هذا البحث يحاول القبض على مكامن تطور أو تعثّر العملية الإبستمولوجية في حركة المدرسة الفلسفية الإسلامية أثناء تناولها المسألة؛ في توقيفها بين المبادئ العقلية من جهة، وبين المسلَّمة الشرعية من جهة ثانية.
وامتثالاً للأمر، اخترنا لعرض الرؤية الفلسفية الإسلامية نموذجين اثنين: المدرسة المشّائية كما تجلَّت على يد الشيخ الرئيس ابن سينا، ومدرسة الحكمة المتعالية كما أبداها مؤسّسها صدر الدين الشيرازي القوّامي، ثم دراسة ذلك بشكل تحليلي لأبرز مرتكزات قضية "المعاد" عندهما؛ ومضافاً إليهما، تم الوقوف على الرؤية الكلامية للمسألة، ووقع الخيار على فخر الدين الرازي، الذي فضلاً عن كونه أحد أقطاب مدرسة علم الكلام الإسلامي، فهو يمتاز عن غيره بتمرّسه في المسائل الفلسفية أيضاً، والتي قد فنّد آراء المدارس فيها.
