"بالموت تنتهي حياة، ولكن لا ينتهي حب: فهو يقاوم ويصمد في قلب الإنسان الذي يبقى، بحثاً عن إنجاز قد لا يبلغه أبداً، "مؤلف رواية "قصة حب" يتابع في هذه القصة سرد تفاصيل المرحلة التي عاشها "اوليفر" بطل قصة حب بعد موت زوجته "جيني" ذلك الحدث الذي "شل" أوليفر ودفعه لتكريس حياته للدفاع عن المظلومين والمضطهدين من خلال مهنته كمحامي، وبالتالي انشغل عن الاستجابة لعواطفه وأحاسيسه، ولكن بمجرد التقائه بـ"مارسي" تلك المرأة الشابة "الكاملة" استيقظت فيه أحاسيس جديدة دفينه جردته من أنانيته وكسرت وحدته في يقظة من الماضي الذي ما زال يعيشه.
