إن ما يسعى إليه هذا الكتاب هو تقديم لمحة مختصرة عن تاريخ أفغانستان المجهول حتى على أبنائها، وميزة هذا الكتاب الأولى أنه مكتوب بلغتنا كتابة فصيحة صحيحة، مكتوب بذلك في الأصل لا مترجماً عن لغة أخرى، وفي ذلك ما فيه من نصاعة الحقيقة التي كثيراً ما تغشيها الترجمة -مهما كانت سليمة- بغشاء من الغموض أو التجهيل.
والميزة الثانية أن مؤلفه من قومية الهزارة التي تقطن كلاً من أفغانستان وباكستان وإيران، فهو إذاً عارف بدخائل أفغانستان، متعمق في أمورها، موغل فيها جغرافية وتاريخاً وخططاً، ومسالك ومنازل وأهلين.
هو أفغاني استعرب لغة فأعطانا ما لا يمكن أن يعطينا غيره ممن يمكن أن يكتبوا عن بلادهن بلغتهم فيترجم لنا، أو ممن أن يكتبوا منا عن تلك البلاد دون أن يعرفوا ما يعرف أهلها. والميزة الثالثة أن المؤلف ليس دخيلاً على العلم، بل هو من صميم العلم، محيط بموضوعه، دارس له، متتبع لكل أصل فيه، ملم بكل فرع منه.
والميزة الرابعة أنه قد جاء في بحوث مختصرة للمعلومات العامة في مجال الأوضاع: الجغرافية، التاريخية، الاجتماعية، الاقتصادية، الثقافية، السياسية لدولة أفغانستان الإسلامية، بالإضافة إلى ذكر عدة فصول التي جاءت تحت عناوين: "أفغانستان من الانقلاب الشيوعي حتى الحكم الإسلامي..". "جدول تاريخي لأهم الأحداث في أفغانستان".. وفصول حول قومية الهزارة التي تعتبر من أكبر الطوائف الشيعية في أفغانستان بعد طائفة البشتون السنية، وفصل خاص حول السيد جمال الدين الحسيني الأفغاني.
وأما الفصل الأخير من الكتاب فقد زين بذكر نبذة عن حياة بعض علماء الشيعة المعاصرين في هذا البلد الذين كان لهم السهم الأكبر في رفع مستوى الثقافة الإسلامية والفكرية في أفغانستان.
