هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا -كتاب روائع من إشعار الصحابة- من مؤلفات الأستاذ البارع الأديب المحدث العلامة فريد الدين مسعود حفظه الله تعالى وأبقاه لنا دخرا ثمينا، وقد قام المؤلف بتأليف هذا الكتاب الرائع الممتاز في سنة 1389/1968م. جمع فيه 435 بيتا من41 صحابيا من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وكان من أهداف المؤلف -كما حدثني- جمع الأبيات التي تتعلق بها قصة إيمانية رائعة، مما أنشدها أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بدافع من العطفة الإيمانية.
وقد أمرني المؤلف -شيخي وسندي ومرشدي إلى طريق العلوم النبوية- أن أقوم بالتعليف على هذا الكتاب وطبعه فتشددت أزري ونهضت لأمتثال أمره وأبزل أقصى جهودي متوكلا على الله تعالى ومستمدا منه التوفيق والنصر ومصاحبا التوجيهات والإرشادات التي تلقيتها من المؤلف ومن أساتذتي وأحبائي.
