Les textes de ce recueil constituent des “Approches Critiques’ de ces translations françaises du Qur’ân. Ce ne sont pas des études exhaustives mais de simples réflexions qui n’ont d’autre ambition que d’aider le lecteur en éveillant sa vigilance à l’égard de ce qui lui est présenté comme des traductions (sic) du texte sacré de l’Islam.
Il y a des années maintenant que nous étudions et comparons, aux fins d’autres travaux, leurs éditions successives, et beaucoup de leurs passage ainsi que l’essentiel de leurs notes et de leur appareil critique nous sont devenus, jour après jour, plus familiers.
C’est ainsi que nous sont apparues de plus clairement certaines de leurs fautes tant au niveau de la langue, pour les meilleures, qu’à celui des idées, pur les autres, riches souvent en approximations, en contradictions, voire en infidélités occasionnelles ou habitulles, d’inadvertance ou de parti pris.
