تعد الكتابة في أنساب العرب من الكتابات الأصيلة في ميدان الفكر التاريخي وقد ساهمت هذه الكتابات في تدوين تاريخ الأسر والعشائر ومن ثم القبائل ومن ثم جوانب من تاريخ الأمة العربية ولذلك تعد هذه الكتابة من الكتابات المهمة التي لها فضل في تدوين تاريخ العرب وقد كان هناك من يقف ضد هذا العلم النبيل وهدفهم من ذلك قطع الصلة بين العربي وأمته ومحاولة تشويه تلك الأنساب وجعلها ضعيفة واهية لذلك لا بد لنا من أن تتشرب أنسابنا ونهذب أصولها وأنا أدعو إلى تشجيع هذا النوع من الدراسات لأنه لا تكاد أمة من الأمم عنيت بأنسابها كغاية الأمة العربية بها ولم يقتصر اهتمام العرب على أنساب الناس وإنما وضعوا الكتب في أنساب الخيل وسلالاتها ويأتي هذا الاهتمام لأنه يمثل الهوية التي يعرفون بها التاريخ الذي يعتمدونه وسلسلة الأمجاد التي تحفل بها أيام العرب ووقائعها والنسب يحتاج إلى معرفة وعلم تحقيق وتدقيق وإحاطة واستيعاب ودقة واجتهاد وهذا ما لمسته من السيد الشريف محمد إبراهيم علي الله آل لطيف الحسني حفظه الله تعالى في كتابة الموسوم (الجامع الخفيف في سيرة من في المخلاف السليماني من السادة الحسنية آل لطيف) فتصدي المؤلف كل هذا العمل الصعب ليس بالأمر اليسير والسهل فالمصادر مختلفة الأهواء والمعلومات متشابكة والروايات كثيرة ومضطربة وقد تسرب إلى بعضها كثير من الادعاء والدس والتشويه والتحريف علاوة على الفترة الزمنية الطويلة التي عالجها الكتاب.
