لقد عمدت دراستنا هذه إلى دراسة الفأل والطيرة والتنجيم في تراثنا الأدبي القديم، وهي دراسة تفيد في فهم الصور الأدبية والشعرية الواردة في موروثنا الأدبي قبل الإسلام ثم ما أحدثه الإسلام من تغيير جوهري في المفاهيم والمعتقدات عبر رحلة طويلة جعلت مظاهر الطيرة لصيقة العصر الجاهلي، وما توارثه الشعراء من أخيلة وصور يشيرون فيها إلى ما حفظته الذاكرة العربية منها.
