يعد هذا الكتاب نقلة حقيقية في فهم أعمق لطبيعة التلاميذ ذوي صعوبات التعلم والذي أكد من خلال فصوله المتنوعة أن البروفيل الشخصي لهذه الفئة قابل للتغيير في الاتجاه الإيجابي سواء من وجهة المتعلم نفسه أو من وجهة نظر المجتمع المحيط به فقط إذا امتلك هذا المتعلم آليات هذا التغيير والتي من أهمها التنظيم الذاتي للتعلم والشخصية علاوة على عدد من الآليات مثل التأمل والتقييم الذاتي.
