أثارت "مبادرة وقف العنف" التى أطلقتها الجماعة الاسلامية الكثير من الجدل والنقاش منذ اطلاقها عام 1997, ولم يكد يهدأ الجدل حولها حتى اندلع مرة أخرى لكن هذه المرة كان الجدل منصبا على "مراجعات تنظيم الجهاد المصري" التى أطلقها دز سيد إمام الشريف فى صيف عام 2007م, ورغم كثرة الجدل واتساع مساحته إلا أنه كله دار فى اطار قد تم رسمه بعناية فائقة, وقد عاين المؤلف ذلك كله عن قرب عندما كان معتقلا قريبا من اصحاب المبادرة وأصحاب المراجعات, ومكنه ذلك من تكوين صورة دقيقة لما جرى ويجري طوال فترة اعتقاله فى الفترة الممتدة من فبراير 1993م وحتى أغسطس 2007م وأستمرت متابعته حتى الآن فكانت هذه الدراسة.
